|If you are not happy with the size and / or shape of your ears, an ear correction can offer a solution. Most cosmetic operations of the ears are performed to correct prominent ears (also called bat ears). The shape of the outer part of the ear - called the pinna or auricle, can be modified or reduced. Earlobes can be enhanced: if they are too large they can be reduced, an earlobe which sticks out can be corrected and torn earlobes (from wearing earrings) can also be repaired.
Reshaping prominent (bat) ears: with ear correction surgery for prominent ears (otoplasty) the surgeon corrects the shape of the cartilage skeleton via an incision in the back of the outer ear. The cartilage is remodelled. Sometimes the surgeon removes a small piece of cartilage to correct the angle between the ear / head.
